When it comes to the home party plan business, the key to success is bookings. If you want your business to thrive, your calendar needs to be filled with parties. But booking those parties isn’t always the easiest thing in the world to accomplish. That’s why many party plan consultants try to find creative ways to entice their clients to book their own parties. If you are a consultant, party games are one popular technique that you may have used to book parties. Another technique that party plan consultants can use to book parties is to have a theme book.
A theme book is a 3-ring binder that you fill with colorful, eye-catching pages that describe the different types of party themes that you offer. You can easily create one of these books and have it available for your party guests to browse through. More than likely, they will come across a theme that they absolutely love and will book a party on the spot. And the best part is that guests who attend a themed party will likely have so much fun that they will want to book a themed party of their very own. Below are a few party themes and accompanying consultant party games that you could implement in your theme book.
Party Theme #1: Auction
With an auction theme, guests are awarded “funny money” (you can use fake $100 bills for this) by doing certain actions such as :
A. Arriving to the party on time
B. Bringing friends
C. Bringing an outside order
D. Answering questions
E. Winning games
F. Booking a Party
At the end of the party is when you can play the auction game. Everyone who has won “funny money” can use it to bid on different gifts. You decide what the gifts are. You should have one gift for every 3-5 guests – enough for there to be a few winners. However, make sure you have smaller party favors for everyone else. You want everyone to leave the party happy.
Party Theme #2: Bridal Shower
This is another popular theme . If you are a consultant, party games are a must when you are doing a bridal shower themed party. The guests are there to have fun and take care of the bride-to-be. Before you have the party, make sure you have the bride fill out her wish list. That way you can show this list to your guests and use it as a gift registry.
Another option would be to have a “For the Bride” bowl set out and allow guests to make cash donations for the bride to use. One great game to play at this type of party is “How Well Do You Know the Bride?”. You can hand everyone but the bride a sheet of paper and as k them questions such as “What is the bride’s middle name?” “What size shoe does she wear” “What is her favorite color”. You, of course, will have already gotten all of the answers from the bride. The guest with the most correct answers wins.
Party Theme #3: Fundraisers
Often, people are willing to book a party if they know that some of the profit from the party will go towards I cause that they care about – whether it is a research fund, a church, an organization their children belong to, their church, or even something as simple as earning money to go towards fixing their car. One fun game that you can play at a fundraiser is a raffle. You can sell raffle tickets to your guests. Make sure that the more they spend the higher their chances are of winning. For example:
$5 = 5 tickets
$10= 15 tickets
$15- 25 tickets
Then you can mix all of the tickets together and whoever wins gets the prize. You could even draw for more than one gift. The great thing is that he money would still be going toward a great cause so people might be more willing to spend more.
If you are a direct sales consultant, party games and themes are definitely the way to go. Brainstorm some cool theme ideas of your own and put together your own theme book. Do that and watch your calendar fill up.
