If you are in directs sales, party games are very likely to be something that you use to liven things up. You probably have some games that you play over and over again and are getting a bit bored with them. Or, perhaps, these games are ineffective. They are not getting your guests involved. So, here you are, looking for some fresh ideas.
But guess what? Sometimes you don’t really need a completely fresh idea. Sometimes, all you need to do is take an old idea and revamp it. For example, did you know that you can take games that we used to play as children and revamp them into party games for adults? Yes!
Below you will find some direct sales party games that are centered around a childhood favorite of many of us. Prepare yourself for some fun Tic Tac Toe games!
Tic Tac Toe Games #1: My Favorite Products Tic Tac Toe
This is a great game to get your guests really paying attention to your product demonstration and actively thinking about what their favorite products are. Before the party, print out blank tic tac toe boards (or draw them – your choice).
Once your guests are seated, give each of them a tic tac toe board and tell them how the game works:
“Ok ladies (and gentlemen) we are going to play a little game of Tic Tac Toe tonight. But it is gonna be Tic Tac Toe with a twist. Each of you has a Tic Tac Toe board in front of you, right? Ok, good. Now what I want you to do is pay attention during my demo while I talk to you guys about all of our awesome products.
Now, when you see me talk about a product that you love, write it in on your board. It doesn’t matter where. Just pick a spot. By the end of my demo, you should have your board COMPLETELY filled out with your favorite (or soon to be favorite) products. Got it? Good. Let’s Go!”
Then go through your demonstration. Remember to make it lively, entertaining, and informative. Let them experience the products as much as possible (feeling, wearing, tasting, etc.). Make sure you are giving them plenty of reasons to fill out that board! You might even want to throw in some reminders, such as “Ok, so who is gonna put this bad boy on their Tic Tac Toe board?”
At the end of your demonstration, tell everyone to take out their Tic Tac Toe boards.
“Ok, ladies and gentlemen…that is the end of my demo. Now, I hope all of you were filling out your Tic Tac Toe boards, because now we are going to play the game. I have here a list of MY personal favorites [Note: an alternative would be to call out the top sellers].
I am going to call them out and if a product is on your list, you can mark it off. The first person to get three in a row horizontally, vertically, or diagonally AND yell out “I love [YOUR COMPANY NAME]!” will win. Ok?”
The person who wins the game will get a special prize of your choosing. The great thing about this game is that when your guests fill out those Tic Tac Toe boards you have something to refer to when you are in the ordering room. Jackpot!
Tic Tac Toe Games #2: Hostess Tic Tac Toe
Ok, so this game is more for your hostess. If you have been in the party plan industry for any length of time, then you will know that hostess coaching is a critical skill to develop.
You can book parties left and right, but if you don’t coach your hostess, you will not succeed. A lack of hostess coaching can lead to low guest attendance, low party sales, and cancellations. By implementing a great hostess coaching system, you cut down on all three of these unfortunate events. This game can easily be a part of that system.
Create a Tic Tac Toe board with the following nine goals listed – one in each square.
1. 15 Adult guests in attendance
2. Have sales of $300 or more
3. Have one dated booking before your show starts
4. Repeat customers or former hostesses in attendance
5. Close your show the day/night of your show
6. Set a time to hear about the [company] opportunity before your show
7. Return guest list to me within 3 days of receipt
8. Personally invite everyone either in person or by phone
9. Have $100 in outside orders with payment before I arrive for your show.
Tell your hostess “Ok, we’re going to play a little game of Tic Tac Toe that will help us to have a great party and hopefully get you some free gifts. On the board are 9 party goals that I want you to shoot for. The night of the party, we will mark off each one you achieve. If you get one tic tac toe (which is 3 marked off spaces in a row), then you will get one free gift from me. Two tic tac toes will get you two gifts. Three tic tac toes will get you 3 gifts. And if you manage to fill the entire board, you will get one free product from me. Sound fun?
Play these two games and your party sales and bookings could go through the roof! Who knew that Tic Tac Toe could be so profitable?
